Location.
I live in Springfield, Virginia. For students who prefer to meet in-person, I typically drive to their homes or another mutually convenient meeting place (such as as a library). If you live in Alexandria, Arlington, or Fairfax, then you are definitely in my driving range. If you live elsewhere in Virginia or out-of-state, then you are probably outside of my service area for in-person tutoring.
For students who live outside my service area but would still like to work with me, I offer tutoring via Zoom or Skype. We may also be able to meet at a library, school, or coffee shop that lies within my working area. Please schedule a free phone consultation if you wish to discuss such an arrangement.

Availability.
I am available to meet with students on Tuesdays through Fridays between 4 PM and 7:30 PM. I also meet with students on Saturdays between 11 AM and 5 PM. I do not tutor on Sundays or Mondays. I will always be unavailable between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day.
My calendar usually books up a couple of months in advance. I currently have extremely limited availability over the next two months and more copious availability thereafter.
I keep a short-term waiting list for students who wish to schedule tutoring sessions in the near future when I am already fully booked. If any of my other students cancel a meeting, the students on the waiting list have first choice of the newly available times. If you wish to arrange a full course of tutoring sessions, however, I would encourage you to contact me at least a few months in advance.
Finally, I keep several times set aside each month for the initial planning session that I hold with all new students. (Read more about that here.) I would be happy to schedule a planning session with you even when my normal tutoring schedule is booked solid.

Cancellation policy.
There is no charge for rescheduling or cancelling a meeting unless you make the change less than 24 hours in advance. I charge the full cost of the scheduled session if the cancellation occurs on less than 24 hours notice.
Rates.
- Individual online tutoring: $180/hour
- Individual in-person tutoring (at your home or a library): $200/hour
- In-person tutoring for a small group of 2 students: $120/hour per student
- Editing essays, analyzing test results, and other email services: $120/hour
The initial phone consultation is free. Please note that the subsequent Skype or Zoom planning session will be billed at my normal hourly rate for online tutoring. The planning session typically lasts 30 minutes.
I accept payment by cash or check (made out to "Tutoring by Ev & Kathleen, LLC"). I also accept payment by Venmo (@TutoringbyEvandKathleen). You can pay at the time of each session or for several sessions in advance. You are under no obligation to sign up for a certain number of meetings, and you can stop the tutoring at any time. I only ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice if you wish to cease the tutoring, as indicated in our cancellation policy above.
